Blues Meets Girl is bonefide Blues thru and thru.\nMr. Downchild\nGrowing up in a musical family\, Mr. Downchild began his singing career after hearing British Skiffle legend Lonnie Donegan and had his first paying gig at the age of 5. By age 15 he had performed on the London Theatre stage and T.V. both acting and singing until he discovered the Blues of Sonny Boy Williamson. This changed everything. A self-taught harmonic player and guitarist he discovered the open tunings and learned to play slide guitar. He played in various bands in London until he came to the U.S. in 1985. Steev\nThere he met Robert Lockwood Jr.\, who became his close friend and mentor. They recorded together in 1994 and since then Mr. Downchild had toured 25 states and produced 6 albums. He was equally influenced and encouraged by Pinetop Perkins and Junior Wells. Mr. Downchild plays the Delta/Chicago Blues and performs both as a one man band or in his current project\, Blues Meets Girl (duo) and with a band.\nKasimira\nTexas born singer songwriter “Kassy” was greatly influenced by her parents vast collection of albums that included Jazz\, R & B\, Folk and Blues and music was always being played on the radio. At age 9 her mother sent her to a voice teacher and by age 17 she had performed in many concerts and theater productions. She went onto college furthering her musical studies at The Dana School of Music but to her dismay opera was the only option for vocalists.Kashimira\nAlways searching for great female artists\, she soon discovered Etta James\, Big Mama Thorton and Koko Taylor. Secretly she went with her friends in the Jazz program to the local Jazz & Blues clubs. Her voice teacher caught her performing at a downtown event\, not singing opera\, he confronted her saying “Miss. Vogel\, the reason I cannot get from you the operatic qualities is because you are listening to that Jazz & Blues music.”\nShortly after that she decided that she needed to make her own path and designed a degree thru the University for Musical Theatre\, the first of its kind there. She continued to sharpen her skills as lead singer of several bands including Network out of Worcester Ma and The Pale Daisies. Kasimira has 2 cds under her belt and has toured 5 states. She is equally at home singing original material as she is paying homage to the great female vocalists that influenced her.

Non-stop touring landed the artist in theaters\, clubs\, radio\, TV\, house concerts\, festivals\, and coffeehouses. Much of this was solo\, much of it in a duo “Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart”. A fine singer\, musician\, and songwriter he is. In his performances expect stellar guitar work\, soulful vocals\, and thought-provoking PARTY songs. Interesting stories find their way into his show\, too. A career that has repeatedly taken Stuart to Europe\, UK\, Canada\, and 49 of the United States includes having begun in his native Nashville as a teenage working musician. From membership in the Nashville Rebels (his father’s band that appeared in the Waylon Jennings movie “The Nashville Rebel”) to sideman stints for Steve Earle\, Freddy Fender\, Joan Baez\, and Steve Forbert he has NEVER STOPPED WORKING as an active musical force. In previous years the artist fronted rock/blues bands of his own that included notable guitarists Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule\, Allman Brothers Band) and Dave Rawlings (Gillian Welch\, Dave Rawlings Machine) serving HIM as second guitarist! Mark Stuart is touring as heavily as ever. Audiences will find his usual material from solo CDs and Stacey Earle/Mark Stuart CDs. But\, they will also hear a special nod toward the artist Paul McCartney for the calendar year. Mark will expose which of his own songs were influenced by McCartney’s style and include some\nof Macca’s tunes\, delivered in MARK STUART style!

DESCRIPTION:Born in Cuba and raised in Chicago\, Eddie “Devil Boy” Turner first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. He honed his craft growing up in Chicago\, and later Colorado\, and his music shows the diverse influences of the Afro-Cuban sounds of his homeland and the deep blues of his adopted country. A diverse blend of rock\, voodoo blues and R&B peppered with African rhythms\, Turner’s music moves the feet while simultaneously haunting the soul. \nIn 1974 Eddie played with Grammy-nominee Tracy Nelson and Mother Earth\, followed by stints with Zephyr and the Legendary 4-nikators. In 1995 he helped form the Otis Taylor Band where his intense guitar work contributed to the band’s sound on five CDs and countless tours. His 2005 release Rise resulted in a Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Artist Debut\, and was followed by 2006’s The Turner Diaries. \nHis release\, Miracles & Demons\, again displays his dynamic guitar work and strong original songwriting. From rap-styled lyrics to funk- and groove-based rock to his searing guitar work\, Eddie Turner provides infectious\, psychedelic urban blues. \n2016 will see the release of his long awaited live CD …… “Naked …. DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter Eric Sommer is an unbelievable intersection of improbable influences and experiences channeled into an amazingly diverse catalog and a résumé that reads more like a musical adventure novel than a series of career bullet points.\nSommer emerged from the Boston music scene in the ’80s with a vengeance\, a Folk guitarist with a percussive\, open-tuning style adapted from the likes of David Bromberg\, Steve Howe\, Townes Van Zandt and Brit Folk legend Davy Graham. But Boston was also a hotbed of New Wave\, Power Pop and Punk at that point\, and Sommer absorbed those influences as well\, creating a Byrdsian jangle sound that earned him opening slots for national touring acts and regular bookings at the renowned Paradise Theatre.\nSommer eventually relocated to Europe where he scored tours with Bram Tchaikovsky\, Wreckless Eric and Nick Lowe\, calling Denmark and the Netherlands home for awhile. After honing his personal songwriting style and playing every conceivable club on the European circuit\, Sommer returned to Boston homeless and broke.\nLiving on the streets and in abandoned squats\, Sommer played every available open mic and picked up guitar tips from David Landau and Gary Burton/Steve Howe sideman Mick Goodrick\, which led to the formation of a trio called The Atomics\, which offered up an American version of Elvis Costello\, Joe Jackson and Nick Lowe during its run. While The Atomics opened for the Dead Kennedys and Gang of Four and became one of Boston’s best local New Wave outfits\, Sommer was finding constant inspiration in the works of Jeff Beck\, Pat Martino\, Joe Pass and Charlie Christian.\nWith The Atomics’ dissolution\, Sommer’s wanderlust took him to New York\, Atlanta and finally the suburbs of Washington\, D.C.\, where he founded the Georgetown Film Festival and embarked on a phase of independent film scoring. Since then\, Sommer has been a troubadour with no fixed address\, playing well over 250 gigs a year and slowing down just long enough to record a handful of brilliant albums\, including Rainy Day Karma with his band\, Solar Flares\, and his latest solo effort\, Brooklyn Bolero.\nIf there’s any lingering doubt about Sommer’s supernatural versatility\, consider that he’s opened for Old 97’s\, Nickel Creek’s Sara Watkins\, Bluegrass icon Jerry Douglas\, Mates of State\, Dr. John\, Leon Redbone and Built to Spill\, to name a few – and Dead Kennedy’s\, Mission to Burma\, Gang of Four\, and Elvis Costello\, Wreckless Eric and Brahm Tchaikovsky…\nWhether in band or one-man form (which nakedly showcases his amazing acoustic Blues guitar stylings)\, Sommer is a living history of contemporary music and a musical force of nature.
