DESCRIPTION:The story doesn’t make the artist or the songwriter. If it were so\, how could they communicate the happenings in others lives they haven’t lived? My story is… I write and sing songs that some people like and some don’t. I’m just like any other “Average Guy” in the aspect that we all have something we are pretty good at that is not apparent in our styles\, our speaking or the clothes we wear. I’m older and more comfortable with what it is that I do. I have a pretty large catalog of original songs that I actually sing at my shows.\nIt’s my opinion that if folks need to know your dog’s name from when you were 10\, they are not really listening to your music anyway. If one of my songs talks about where my father was born and raised I will tell you and explain its relevance to the song. I’ve never had anyone walk up to me and say “I can’t relate to that song until I know more about your life story”. I have had people tell me that our experiences may be very different\, but that particular song hit them in the heart. That’s what I do. I write and sing songs for you to get your feelings and words out. By the way\, the dog’s name was Spotty\, in case that was just killing you.

DESCRIPTION:Small Time Napoleon began as the coalition of Dan Hardin and Jeff Thomas. Accomplished musicians in their own right\, they’ve combined their affection for harmony\, curiosity of rhythm\, and fascination with the tunes of the past to create a unique musical experience. Adding to the sound is Ryan Fowler on drums and Dave Neill on bass. Both have a constantly expanding and increasingly impressive voice in their respective instruments and are great assets to the band.\nWith artists like Tom Waits\, Elvis Costello\, Rufus Wainwright\, and John Prine in mind they’ve recently written\, recorded\, and released their debut EP which has received positive feedback from listeners and critics alike. Laura Shine\, Assistant Program Director/On-Air Host at Louisville’s own WFPK\, says of the band\, “Small Time Napoleon is poised for big time things. They are truly one of the most unique and exciting bands I’ve seen come out of Louisville in a very long time. Their music and instrumentation and vocals are exquisite!” More recently WFPK saw fit to place “Sidewinder”\, one of two singles to receive regular airplay\, at number 54 on their “Top 100 Songs of 2013”.\nEach listener seems to hear a different thread of influences\, Kyle Ware of Insider Louisville finds “their sound-a mad science blend of western swing\, hot jazz and folk-is already starting to gel into something wholly singular.” Regardless of the category\, audiences walk away with their toes tapping\, humming some syncopated number of modern nostalgia seldom heard from artists today.

DESCRIPTION:Mark Stuart has been a fixture on the Americana/Folk music scene for many years. Non-stop touring landed the artist in theaters\, clubs\, radio\, TV\, house concerts\, festivals\, and coffeehouses. Much of this was solo\, much of it in a duo “Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart”. A fine singer\, musician\, and songwriter he is. In his performances expect stellar guitar work\, soulful vocals\, and thought-provoking PARTY songs. Interesting stories find their way into his show\, too. A career that has repeatedly taken Stuart to Europe\, UK\, Canada\, and 49 of the United States includes having begun in his native Nashville as a teenage working musician. From membership in the Nashville Rebels (his father’s band that appeared in the Waylon Jennings movie “The Nashville Rebel”) to sideman stints for Steve Earle\, Freddy Fender\, Joan Baez\, and Steve Forbert he has NEVER STOPPED WORKING as an active musical force. In previous years the artist fronted rock/blues bands of his own that included notable guitarists Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule\, Allman Brothers Band) and Dave Rawlings (Gillian Welch\, Dave Rawlings Machine) serving HIM as second guitarist! Mark Stuart is touring as heavily as ever. Audiences will find his usual material from solo CDs and Stacey Earle/Mark Stuart CDs. But\, they will also hear a special nod toward the artist Paul McCartney for the calendar year. Different Places in SPACE is a group of four artists who pull together diverse elements of jazz and rock and mix it with an interactive performance style to create a sonic\, and decidedly psychedelic\, musical experience. The band has only a brief history in time\, dating back to its genesis as a duo in the city of Los Angeles.

SUMMARY:TERRAPIN FLYER returns to Wilbert's
DESCRIPTION:Terrapin Flyer returns to Wilbert’s to celebrate their 20th Anniversary. Over the course of 20 years\, Terrapin Flyer has performed with a who’s who of the top names in the jamband world. The band started touring with former Grateful Dead keyboardist Vince Welnick in 2001 as a launchpad and then with Melvin Seals soon after in 2004.  After Welnick’s passing the band also began touring with Grateful Dead’s Tom Constanten in 2006.             To name all of the musicians who have performed with Terrapin Flyer would be an impossibly exhaustive task\, but some include Bob Bralove from the Grateful Dead\, Mark Karan from The Other Ones and Bob Weir’s Ratdog\, Scott Guberman from Phil Lesh and Friends\, Josh Olken from Terrapin Flyer with Melvin Seals & Tom Constanten\, Dave Hebert from Melvin Seals JGB\, Wavy Dave Burlingame from Cornmeal\, Janis Wallin from Steve Kimock’s Crazy Engine and a whole host of tremendously talented musicians from across the country.              Deadheads across the country know and love Terrapin Flyer because the band has toured for so many years and with so many legends. They have strong markets on both coasts and many all points in between.  The band’s Facebook page has over 25\,000 followers who are eager for the next show. \n Deadheads should take interest because the band’s storied history includes them has exploring deeply the roots of the Grateful Dead with Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead keyboardist from 1969-1970).  However\, Terrapin Flyer might be best known for performing many tours with Melvin Seals from the Jerry Garcia Band since 2004.  Melvin performed with the Jerry Garcia Band from 1980 – 1995 and was Garcia’s right hand man. \n            On the 20th Anniversary Tour\, Terrapin Flyer is performing with Wavy Dave Burlingame from Cornmeal on bass.  Wavy has been a part of the band since it’s beginnings\, but it was with Cornmeal that he established national recognition.  Josh Olken will be on lead guitar and Josh is considered one of the finest interpreters of the Jerry Garcia style and sound. Other band members include long-time Terrapin Flyer keyboardist Michael Cole\, founder of the band Doug Hagman on rhythm guitar and Pete Lundholm on drums.     \n            Deadheads won’t want to miss this opportunity with one of the best Grateful Dead bands in the country!
